HEAD – INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management, strategy, execution of the IT systems and infrastructure for the Institute and to safeguard the Institute’s information system assets from any IT security breaches. The incumbent is also responsible to lead a team of IT staff, determine business requirements for IT systems, manage the design and implementation of IT infrastructure, eliminating security risks and manage Institute’s IT helpdesk.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop IT strategy that relates to the Institute’s IT infrastructure by consulting relevant stakeholders across the entire organisation to identify business and technology needs and to optimize the use of information technology.
  • Manage IT operations, systems and IT helpdesk to ensure smooth delivery and operations of IT services.
  • IT Security Risk Management – to provide timely advice based on analysis/ assessment of security risk/threat and impact to enable well informed business decisions.
  • Plan and conduct periodic audits including security enquiries, investigations and reviews of security activities to determine any security violations and inefficiencies.
  • Continuously review, implement and support of IT solutions based on IT best practices, including develop and execute security policies and procedures.
  • Manage and support the implementation of new software and hardware.
  • Provide direction, guidance and training to staff of the IT Department.
  • Develop, manage and track the department’s budgeting and forecasting.
  • Maintain up-to-date with advances in technology and industry best practices including technical knowledge on security frameworks and systems, trends and security standards.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or other related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of working experience in IT operations, leading technology teams, and managing information technology projects implementation.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT Security Management, IT Performance Management, network administration and cloud computing
  • Possess security professional certification (e.g. CISSP) is a plus.
  • Familiar with security frameworks (e.g. COBIT, ISO 27000) and risk management methodologies.
  • Ability to identify and address key security and infrastructure risks or issues to support strategic business needs and take appropriate measures including the development of procedures and plans.
  • Proven working experience in installing, configuring, monitoring and troubleshooting systems, databases, networks and Linux/Windows based environments for servers and workstations including Microsoft Office 365 administration.
  •  Proficient in computer systems, security, network and system administration, databases and data storage system.
  • Strong knowledge of software development and project management principles.
  • Proven track record in providing strategic direction, planning and establishing priorities that ensure an effective work structure which maximises productivity and achieves goals.
  • Knowledge of patch management, firewalls and intrusion detection/prevention systems, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and cryptographic protocols (e.g. SSL/TLS)
  • Good understanding on new technology trends and shifts in technology and how to leverage its benefits in an organisation while balancing the organisation’s business needs and budget..
  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills, with ability to effectively communicate with teams across the entire organisation.
  • Possess strong analytical mind and able to multi-task with good time management.

MANAGER – FINANCIAL STATEMENTS REVIEW & CPE COMPLIANCE

 

 

 

The successful candidate will assist the Head, Financial Statements Review (FSR) & CPE Compliance to offer technical expertise to the FSR Committee and drive the financial statements surveillance programme in monitoring the quality of financial statements that are prepared by or are the responsibility of MIA members, for the purpose of determining compliance with statutory and other requirements, approved accounting & auditing standards; and generally accepted accounting & auditing standards and practices.

 

 

 

Requirements:

  • Possess professional qualification and/or a Degree in Accountancy and a member of MIA
  • Minimum 5 years of audit experience and must be in current employment with a large or medium size firm of accountants 
  • Familiar with accounting standards, auditing standards and other statutory requirements in relation to financial reporting
  • Resourceful and able to conduct research on related discipline
  • Able to identify inconsistencies with respect of the preparation/presentation of financial statements & issues relating to financial reporting
  • High degree of self-motivation, results oriented and able to work independently
  • Able to inspire confidence, influence others and rise up to challenges constructively

MANAGER – INVESTIGATION COMMITTEE (ACCOUNTING)

 

The successful candidate will assist the Investigation Committee of the Institute in investigating complaints against MIA members which involves, among others, reviews of audit working papers to establish and evaluate the compliance with accounting and auditing standards.

 

Requirements:

  • Tertiary or professional qualification in Accountancy and a member of MIA
  • At least 5 years of audit experience, and must be in current employment as a Manager with a major or medium-sized audit firm of accountants
  • Possess strong analytical skills and must be good in report writing
  • Good knowledge of Auditing and Accounting Standards
  • Able to meet tight timelines and work under a challenging and dynamic working environment
  • Motivated, results oriented and able to work independently

MANAGER – PRACTICE REVIEW

 

The successful candidate will assist the Head, Practice Review in implementing the practice review programme of the Institute which requires on-site visits to member firms to perform engagement reviews. Practice review is a regulatory function of the Institute to determine whether member firms have established adequate quality control policies and procedures in accordance with ISQC 1 and have complied with auditing & accounting standards and legal & statutory requirements in the conduct of their audit of financial statements.

 

Requirements:

  • Full membership in a recognised professional accountancy body is compulsory and a member of MIA
  • Minimum 5 years of audit experience, and must be in current employment as a Manager with a large audit firms
  • Extensive practical knowledge of international and local accounting as well as auditing standards
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with excellent command in spoken and written English
  • High degree of self-motivation, results oriented and able to work independently

MANAGER, DIGITAL ECONOMY DEPARTMENT

 

You will be responsible for various initiatives to transform the accounting profession to be digitally savvy and adopt technology in their roles. You have to independently develop an issue from research to analysis, validation, strategy formulation and development as well as implementation. You may engage with various stakeholders such as MIA members, industry players and thought leaders, and government ministries/agencies in carrying out your responsibilities.

The successful candidate will assist the Head, Capital Market & Assurance in managing activities of the Ethics Standard Board (ESB) as well as providing technical support to the Institute, Council and MIA members on ethics & enquiry on Companies Act 2016.

 

Requirements:

  • Possess professional qualification in Accountancy and/or a member of MIA
